The 2008 Sovereign European Art Prize

1-10 October 2008

The 2008 Sovereign European Art Prize exhibition presented some of today’s most exciting contemporary European artists working in 2D media. A panel of judges selected these thirty artists from the hundreds of expertly nominated submissions. This year’s judging panel included Sir Peter Blake, Tim Marlow, Rachel Campbell-Johnston, Philly Adams, Alan Yentob and Jarvis Cocker.

The winner received 25,000 Euro prize. The other works were auctioned in a gala charity event, where the proceeds were split 50:50 between the artist and charity. The Sovereign Art Foundation worked with several charities establishing and supporting arts programmes. This year The Sovereign Art Foundation supported Kids Co, who also featured a piece specially created for the exhibition in the entrance.

The announcement of the first prize winner and public prize winner were made during the gala auction. The public prize was awarded to the work which received the most votes from the public attending the exhibition or voting online.
